Well-equipped by thermal relays (long-time trip) and magnetic relays (instantaneous trip), motor protection circuit breakers, commonly known as MPCBs, provide protection against overload and short circuit respectively.
MPCBs, as their name suggests, are mainly used for protection of motors.
In these products, the instantaneous breaking current is usually 13 times the rated current.
MPCB up to 10 amps current do not need a fuse as backup protection according to their short-circuit current of 100 kiloamperes, but for higher rated currents, according to the ultimate short-circuit current and service of 15 and 7.5 kiloamperes, they need a fuse for backup protection.
